LED technology is changing the lighting landscape for both governments and businesses. In today’s post we would like to take a look at 8 posts that we’ve written that discuss the topic of LED for industrial lighting facilities. This should help you better understand the advantages and disadvantages of this type of lighting for industrial applications.

Tell Us More About Your Project

  1. Industrial LED Lighting Fixtures You Should Consider for Your Facility - This post starts out by identifying the large energy expense that industrial facilities pay for their lighting. Then it makes a case for LED lighting, highlighting the decrease in maintenance expense, decrease in energy costs, and increase in lighting performance that industrial facilities will experience by switching to LED. Finally, the post discusses particular LED lighting products that would best fit a particular application. To read the full post click here.
  1. 3 Applications for Industrial LED Lighting - This post starts out by discussing the three key motivators to implementing led lighting in your facility, namely: reduced energy costs, reduced maintenance expenses and improved lighting performance. The post then goes on to discuss specifics around why facility owners would want to implement LED lighting for parking lots, parking garages, and warehouses. These issues surround improved aesthetics of the space and patron safety. To read the full post click here.
  1. 3 Reasons To Convert Warehouse Lighting To LEDs - As you might have guessed from the title this post surrounds three main ideas of why a facility owner would convert their lighting to LEDs. The post discusses the “long warm up time” of metal halide bulbs, and how such a problem would be eliminated with LED lighting. It then discusses the “ability to dim” feature that LED lighting has, and how this turns into immediate cost savings for the facility manager. Finally, it covers the “switching” problem associated with metal halide bulbs - where if you turn these lights off you need to wait about 15 to 20 minutes till they are back to full power, and how this problem is alleviated with LED lighting. 1. LED versus Metal Halide Lights - This blog post is a head-to-head comparison of LED lighting vs metal halide lighting (the most common existing lighting type for industrial facilities) on key metrics like: correlated color temperature, color rendering index, dimming and much more. After laying out these key metrics, the post discusses the key upsides and downsides of each type of lighting. To read the full post click here.
  1. Everything You Need to Know About High Bay Lighting - This post starts out by explaining what high bay lighting is and where you would typically find this kind of lighting. The post then goes into discussing the merits of LED lighting vs counterparts: metal halide, high pressure sodium, and fluorescent lighting. It discusses the shortcomings of each type of lighting when compared against LEDs. Finally it discuss the maintenance savings, performance benefits and energy reductions that you will see by switching to LED lighting. To read the full post click here.
  1. Why do metal halide bulbs take so long to warm-up? - This post detail the granular mechanics of why metal halide bulbs take so long to reach their full illumination. It then discusses how LED lighting is alleviating this long warm up time, while additionally saving energy expense (metal halide bulbs lose a lot of energy to heat). Finally, the post discusses the return on investment that a facility owner would receive through: rebates, reduced maintenance expense and reduced energy consumption. 1. LED Fixtures or Linear LED Tubes to Replace Linear Fluorescent Tubes - This blog post is all about replacing your Linear Fluorescent Tubes with LED lighting. The post gives three main areas to focus on when evaluating new lighting: the purchase price of the product, the lighting performance, and the energy efficiency of the lighting. 1. Conrail Leads the Way with Industrial LED Lighting - This is a Stouch Lighting case study post about Conrail’s led lighting retrofit. Conrail wanted to improve the lighting quality under and overpass and also wanted to decrease their maintenance expenses on the lights. Stouch lighting was able to achieve this by installing 21 Metal halide fixtures with IP66 rated, tempered glass, and NEMA 4X enclosures. Finally, the post illuminates the impressive results that Conrail achieved after the lighting retrofit was completed. To read the full post click here.

This should help you get a much broader understanding of industrial LED lighting, and where the advantages would be for your organization.
